Update:
Pottermoreforum.net
Hello all you fellow Magical people. I Just started a new Pottermore forum to make it more easy to facilitate all the questions, concerns, comments, news and whatever else anyone wants to discuss or add about their present and future experience with Pottermore including the beta testing period.
It’s appropriately called Pottermoreforum.net. The forum is in its infancy stages, I just set it up to day in fact, so I’ll be giving it a nice graphic makeover and update soon enough, but for now its a great forum for discussion on these darn delayed Welcome emails. I just added the first category, and guess what, it’s on these Welcome emails.
Please stop by the forum now or as soon as you get your Welcome email from Pottermore. I know I will; I registered on Day 1 within 5 minutes so I’m expecting this Welcome letter soon.

Head on over to be the first to join the discussion. Magical People encouraged to register first to beta test the forum (lol).

After some more investigating at Pottermore.com after what seemed like an earlier crash of the site I discovered more press release material and a little more information about what how this Pottermore site will look.
The new online Pottermore website screen press release shots look fantastic. Early stories or rumors about a possible real world or global Harry Potter Treasure Hunt with actual prizes are incorrect at the moment. What we have here could be a lot more engaging, interactive and real. A combination of online gaming with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
As you can see from this screenshot it looks a lot like an online game portal, combined with a Facebook dynamic (Dragonclaw_123 is now friends with Fireslug_123), and a Twitter-like tweet your status dynamic (Phoenixwing_8760 has just started the Chamber of Secrets and Fireslug_123 has just completed the Philosophers Stone).
So how will do I play Pottermore you might be asking. Looking closer at the Pottermore portal hompage called The Gateway reveals some more interesting things. A metallic looking gate looping around creates a series of seven areas representing the books with their related emblems or symbols. A starting point with small plot points may indicate areas completed or progress in the game. Different character icons like the owl faces decorate the points and probably server as click-able status update feature.
At the top of the page you will find your typical computer gaming features but with some added online social media elements to it. You will have the Shop, Diagon Alley, Gringotts, Great Hall, Common Room, Spells, Potions, Trunk, Friends, and Favorites. Don’t know for sure if this is the final Gateway layout or a prototype but it is very detailed.

Here are the press release statements with the Pottermore announcement today.
With the press release was this statement “On entering, you choose a magic username and begin your experience. As you move through the chapters, you can read and share exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling, and, just as Harry joins Hogwarts, so can you. You visit Diagon Alley, get sorted into a house, cast spells and mix potions to help your house compete for the House Cup,”
J.K. Rowling said, “I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation. I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have. Just as I have contributed to the website, everyone else will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment – Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site,”

It will be interesting to see just exactly how Pottermore will incorporate Twitter into the mix but the @pottermore twitter feed might be the place to get a lot of news, tips, hints, answers, suggestions, and updates so this Twitter page must be a bookmark for all Harry Potter fans.

When was this post written? Am I missing it or is there no date/time stamp on this or any of the other postings? Makes it really difficult to figure out what is old (and I missed) or new (and I don’t want to miss!).
True.
I got early access
I have never been this excited for anything before.
Oh my God, so exited
