With 39 confirmed dead as of 9:00 pm in the United States and more casualties on the way the Kenyon Nairobi Mall terrorist attack has reminded the global community that terrorist groups are indeed still mobilized and potent in force.
Saturday evening a group known as Al-Shabaab stated that they made sure all Muslims were out of the mall before they began shooting. Al-Shabaab is a faction of Al Qaeda which had made their name well known with earlier attacks in Uganda in 2010.
This news story is still ongoing as many of the gunman from Al-Shabaab are still holding up in the mall. The Kenyan national government has released statements that their security forces have the situation contained but that the opposing forces are still operating.
You can follow the ongoing reaction to the terrorist attack at the Kenyan Nairobi Westgate Mall on Twitter with the hashtags tagged to tweets listed below. In fact Twitter seems to be media source the terrorists have used to get messages out about their action.
This was tweeted earlier by the now suspended account from the Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab from within the Mall and even contained a hashtag #westgate. Another indication that Twitter is the source to get up to second real time updates and developments in breaking news world events.
So does the Al-Shabaab group have a Twitter account? Well, they did. Several times they’ve been suspended, but now after the latest attacks you can now no longer access their Twitter account.
Here were some of the tweets from the now suspended Al-Shabaab Twitter account:
The Mujahideen entered #Westgate Mall today at around noon and are still inside the mall, fighting the #Kenyan Kuffar (infidels) inside their own turf,”
“What Kenyans are witnessing at #Westgate is retributive justice for crimes committed by their military,”
“The Mujahideen are still strong inside #Westgate Mall and still holding their ground.”
