  • Banned as a pagan symbol, mistletoe was revived by the Victorians who thought it was a sign of love and good luck.
  • In the Celtic language, Mistletoe means “All Heal”.
  • Druid priests gave mistletoe to people, who hung them over doorways as protection against thunder, lightning and other evils.
  • Ancient Druids considered mistletoe sacred because they thought it must have been planted by the gods.
  • A goddess whose son was shot by an arrow made of mistletoe decided when he was recovered that mistletoe should never
  • be used for harm again, so she made it a symbol of love by kissing anyone who passed under it.
  • Mistletoe bears fruit at the time of the Winter Solstice, the birth of the new year.
  • When ancient  warriors met beneath the mistletoe they had to put down their weapons and call a truce.
