The 2016 election is finally over and Trump has won the electoral college by a score of 306 to 232 electoral votes. One of the few contentious topics played out on Twitter has been the disparity of the popular vote between the 2 candidates. As of the date of this post Hillary Clinton has surged ahead in the popular vote by over 2 million.
With such a large gap in the popular vote and questions about mandates many people are wanting the government to take a closer look at the electoral college and popular vote to see if the status quo system in electing a President is still viable. There are some valid arguments on both sides of this topic.
It wasn’t long after the election results were finalized and Hillary Clinton steamed rolled ahead with over 1.5 million in the popular vote that the candidates, party officials and advocates for mainly the Democrats began to to address the issue.
