Which House In Pottermore Will I Be Sorted Into By The Sorting Hat?

Let the waiting begin. Pottermore delivered a congratulatory email earlier today to most people who registered successfully during the 7 day Magical Quill Challenge Promotion. The email is not what people were expecting but non the less its done. It does provide however some very important details about when the actual account activation process will begin.

The Pottermore email confirms that the Welcome emails/letters will be going out in mid-August and continue to trickle out all the way up to September 31, 2011. Mid-August will be this Monday, the 15th, or Tuesday, the 16th.  Either way, this is out of our hands.

I guess the next thing to worry ourselves with besides the final activation of our accounts is this lingering question: “which House in Pottermore will I be sorted into?“. According to J.K. Rowling and the people at Pottermore the Pottermore sorted House decision is final . Once your in a house, you stay there.

J.K. Rowling had recently described in an interview that the Sorting Hat questions was one of the main reasons she became attracted to the Pottermore project. She had a ever growing list of personality type questions in her mind, so long that she would instinctively sort people  into Houses as she met them. Wanting to share the vast amount of sorting hat questions with her fans was one of the appealing aspects of the Pottermore experience she said.

What type of questions will the Pottermore Sorting Hat ask is still a mystery for now. We will find out soon enough starting next week which House each of the early beta testers will find their place in.

But for now, to pass the time, I thought I would introduce a poll on what House you think in Pottermore you will be sorted into. It will be interesting of course to go back and compare your choice here with the real Pottermore Sorting Hat decision.

Please take the Sorting Hat House Choice Poll and see which House most people prefer to be in. Below is a general guideline but the final decision of course is not restricted to these traits only.

  • Hufflepuffs: hard working, friendly, loyal, and non-judgmental

  • Ravenclaw: wit, intelligence, creativity, and wisdom
  • Slytherin: cunning, ambition and leadership
  • Gryffindor: courage, daring, nerve, and chivalry

Please visit the  Pottermoreforum and post about the House you would like to be in and of course the House you end up in after you have been sorted. I’m looking for a few good beta testers for the Pottermore forum.

Thanks for helping spread the word. I’m rather surprised at the results I’ve seen and the sentiments on Twitter. There’s almost a Gryffindor backlash of sorts. It seems people mostly DON’T want to be in Hufflepuff, and/or REALLY want to be in Slytherin. Interesting.

I really want Ravenclaw but Hufflepuff wouldn’t be bad either

I can understand not wanting to be in Gryffindor. We’ve followed them extensively and it would be more fun to experience other houses. That being said I think I still want to be in Gryffindor. We’ll see.

I want to be a Slytherin, but I think it’ll be a close tie between that and Ravenclaw. Chances are, I’ll be sorted into Ravenclaw, based on the traits listed.

Why wouldn’t you want to be sorted into Gryffindor?

Based on the characteristics above, and the various quizzes I’ve taken with friends and family, I’d say that I will most likely be sorted into Gryffindor, with Slytherin a close second. I’ll have to wait and see… But I’m extremely excited to receive my Welcome email!

I would love to be in Gryffindor because I want to experience what my heroes did and be just like them!!! I want to follow their footsteps…….A second choice would be ravenclaw

I honestly have no idea which house I will be sorted into. I could be in all four! My mother would describe me as a highly audacious, chivalrous and confident young lady, so I would suit Gryffindor perfectly. On the other hand, Slytherin would be just as ideal as I pride myself in being artful, sharp and at times a little cunning. My teacher tells me that I am intelligent and witty, as well as being resourceful, perceptive and imaginative – so Ravenclaw could very well be the house for me! Lastly, I would thrive in Hufflepuff as my friends would say that I am a kindhearted, thoughtful, amiable, sympathetic and most humble friend – for the trait I pride the most in myself is my modesty.
